1982 produced one of the great vintages of Bordeaux, often considered as an exceptional one.
The harvest was early and abundant. The climatic conditions were exceptionally favourable throughout the year.
After a dry and mild spring, flowering started at the end of May and continued in June with hot and dry weather which continued up to the harvest, alternating with short periods of stormy rain which were favourable to the swelling of the berries. The summer heat favoured the ripeness and concentration of the grapes. After several days of rain at the start of September, strong heat set in making the vines suffer on the more gravelly soils.
The grapes harvested were extremely ripe, with low acidity and rounded tannins. The wines are supple and silky, with lots of fruit, and possess all the qualities of a wine for long ageing. Pleasant nose, complex, prunes, ripe, candied fruits.
